Bristol Tennessee Essential Services Selects Equinox

DEPLOYS PROTECTOR FRAUD MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Nashville, TN June 23, 2015 — Nashville-based Equinox Information Systems is pleased to report that Bristol Tennessee Essential Services (BTES)—a public power utility located in Bristol, Tennessee, providing high-speed Internet, telephone, and cable television services to its customers—has selected and deployed the Protector fraud management system. Protector offers real-time fraud protection by comparing call records against a number of configurable metrics. Equinox protects customers from literally millions of dollars in fraud losses annually thanks to the FMS’s ability to distinguish communications fraud from legitimate customer usage in this manner.

“To achieve our mission of being the best electric, Internet, telephone, and cable television provider, BTES focuses on solutions that impact the reliability, safety, and economics of our services,” explained Greg Drewry, System Engineer at BTES. “Having the Equinox FMS in place directly supports this mission, allowing us to shield our customers from fraud and its negative effects.”

Protector is widely recognized as the industry’s most reliable and affordable tool for combatting telecommunications fraud and is used by Equinox customers to process hundreds of millions of call records per day. The automated FMS provides real-time fraud protection by monitoring records for events outside of acceptable usage thresholds. When such events are detected, Protector immediately alerts, so fraud can be stopped right then at the source. Because Protector employs dynamic usage profiling and proprietary monitoring metrics (rather than hardcoding for specific fraud types/symptoms) to identify suspicious activity, it detects all types of fraud—even the newest schemes—across all customer bases and call types. As it monitors usage records, Protector also builds a real-time CDR Warehouse, which can be used to quickly and easily research cases of potential fraud, as well as document fraudulent usage for reporting purposes.

“Proactively combatting fraud not only protects a company’s revenue, but it also plays an important role in overall customer support and satisfaction efforts,” said David West, Executive Vice President for Equinox Information Systems. “Equinox is honored to be selected for this initiative and looks forward to helping BTES achieve their mission for many years to come.”
