The musical Hamilton recently visited Nashville, inspiring reflections on the contrasting characters of Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr. Hamilton embodies boldness and impatience. Burr represents caution and deliberation. Both approaches carry consequences: Hamilton's impetuousness creates self-inflicted challenges, while Burr's prudence causes him to miss opportunities.

At Equinox, we've consciously navigated between these extremes. We resist chasing every trend while simultaneously avoiding stagnation. This balanced approach has enabled 34 years of sustainable growth without burning out our employees or damaging our customer relationships.

2019 Milestones

In terms of our team, David Bastin celebrated his 25th anniversary and was promoted to Vice President of Software Engineering. Bill Menees advanced to Vice President of DevOps and completed his Master of Science in Computer Science from Georgia Tech.

For our user communities, we hosted the 21st annual Protector User Group Meeting and the second rebooted TeleLink User Group Meeting — both events are scheduled to continue in 2020.

On the business side, 2019 brought our highest total revenue in company history. We added new customers including Allstream, Bandwidth, Cable Bahamas, Meriplex, WCS, and WorldNet Puerto Rico. Existing customers expanded implementations with Intrado, Windstream, Cincinnati Bell, Cox, Comporium, NorthState, Grid4, RCN, and Otelco.

As we enter 2020, the lesson from Hamilton seems right: know when to take your shot, and know when to wait for it. At Equinox, we'll keep doing both.
