Am I working at home or at the office today? Does it matter?

Many people may be asking those questions now. Equinox has been pondering them as well. Historically, the company primarily operated as a work-in-the-office organization. With COVID's arrival, they quickly transitioned to remote work — they were technologically prepared and adapted well to the forced work-from-home scenario. As the pandemic evolved, they experienced periods of hybrid work before reverting to almost exclusively remote operations.

Despite recognizing that telecommuting has functioned successfully for many organizations for years, Joe Herron, VP of Equinox Support, acknowledges: "I find the current working environment weird."

There are genuine benefits to remote work. The commute drops from 1–1.5 hours each way to 30 seconds. There are opportunities to work uninterrupted on critical tasks, increased family time including shared meals, financial savings from reduced commuting, and a far more casual dress code.

But there are real challenges too. Reduced social interaction with coworkers. The difficulty of identifying solutions through hallway conversations. The loss of informal peer support during tough times. Increased home distractions. And diminished opportunities for hands-on mentoring and oversight.

Despite these challenges, Herron emphasizes that "the Equinox team remains in full force at full capacity" and encourages customers to reach out with confidence. Whatever weird looks like for your team right now, Equinox is here to support you.
