NASHVILLE, TN — February 5, 2002 — Equinox Information Systems unveiled Protector 10.0, the latest generation of its telecommunications fraud management software, featuring new architecture and capabilities designed to deliver enterprise-level fraud detection at a competitive price point.
"Before carriers could have a fraud management system with all the bells and whistles, or they could have an affordable system," said Byron Middendorf, Equinox CEO. With Protector 10.0, Equinox set out to deliver both.
Wayne Lowe, Equinox President, noted that the release achieved "a processing rate and functionality that meets or exceeds that of any other telecom fraud system," supported by enhanced architecture and data warehouse integration for improved scalability.
Protector 10.0 introduced Usage Profiling, which automatically generates and adjusts customer usage profiles based on time, region, and day type. The system includes Workflow Management tools for case investigation and documentation, plus enhanced reporting capabilities for tracking metrics and potential fraud losses. Protector identifies customer usage variations suggesting fraudulent activity through real-time network monitoring, analyzing traffic using customer profiles, call thresholds, and custom rules to distinguish fraud from legitimate usage.
