NASHVILLE, TN — June 20, 2012 — Nashville-based Equinox Information Systems reports that Telepak Networks, Inc. has licensed and deployed the Protector solution to help combat the ever-costly problem of telecom fraud. The Protector fraud management system monitors Telepak's network in real-time to detect and identify suspicious traffic or call activity, allowing fraud to be stopped efficiently and cost-effectively. Telepak Networks is a full service provider of Internet, telecommunications, network, and backhaul services for residential and commercial customers in the southeastern United States.

Protector has earned a reputation as the most reliable and affordable fraud management system on the market by serving hundreds of carriers in the US and abroad. The system currently processes over one-billion call records per day. To address the ever-changing challenges facing the telecom industry, Protector employs dynamic usage profiling and customer-defined rules to distinguish fraudulent usage from legitimate usage. When it encounters potentially suspicious activity, Protector generates alerts that are displayed onscreen and can be sent to designated recipients by email, SNMP trap, or pager. The system's integrated case management tools give access to data—including historical CDR data, billing/customer care information, summarized usage history graphs, and details of resolved fraud cases—to aid in investigation. Protector also uses call records to build a real-time CDR Warehouse for research, reporting, and law enforcement purposes.

"Protecting our networks from unauthorized and fraudulent use is essential, and Equinox's depth of experience was a key factor in our selection process," explained Allen McIntosh, Sr. Manager of Retail Operations at Telepak Networks. "We have already begun receiving a return on our investment, as Protector detected and alerted us to international fraud that we were able to shut down quickly with minimal losses."

"We are pleased to support Telepak's fraud mitigation efforts," said Equinox Executive Vice President David West. "I am confident that Protector will continue to mitigate Telepak's fraud liability just as it already has since its initial deployment."
