Every year, tens of thousands of people descend upon Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to watch whether Punxsutawney Phil casts a shadow on Groundhog Day. The folklore is well-known: a shadow means six more weeks of winter, while no shadow signals an early spring.
Groundhog Day celebrations began in the 1840s, and modern gatherings can draw over 40,000 attendees. In 2013, an Ohio prosecutor famously filed a humorous request for the death penalty for Phil following an incorrect spring prediction — perhaps the most creative expression of weather frustration on record. Similar celebrations take place in Atlanta, Raleigh, and Birmingham, so it's not just a Pennsylvania tradition.
Certain events mark the rhythms of the year. Football signals fall. Memorial Day gatherings anchor summer. Easter blooms announce spring. In Nashville, where weather can be unpredictable to say the least, these markers are particularly welcome.
At Equinox, our version of the spring signal is our trade show schedule. Three major events are coming up, and our fraud management and revenue assurance solutions never hibernate:
- CCA Expo — Atlanta, March 24–27
- Comptel Plus — Orlando, April 12–15
- ITW — Chicago, May 10–13
We'd love to connect at any of these events. Whether you're a current customer or just getting acquainted with what Equinox does, spring is a great time to talk about protecting and optimizing your network revenue.
