This month, we celebrate Lesa Grubbs' upcoming 23rd anniversary with us, having joined the team in May 1993. Known around the office as the "Equinox Team Mom," Lesa manages scheduling, coordination, and operations across the company. When asked why employees remain at Equinox for so long, she gave an answer that captures what makes this place different: "Equinox is like family — one who celebrates together the successes of our children and families and who also supports each other during hard times."
Lesa's loyalty has been tested and rewarded in equal measure. She took two leaves of absence to address her son's health needs, and both times the company made room for her return. Byron Middendorf famously approached her at a traffic light to personally ask her to come back. The company subsequently accommodated her family's schedule without hesitation. Lesa credits the workplace's flexibility and genuine support — including hospital visits from leadership, transportation assistance during her own injury recovery, and meals from colleagues during family emergencies — as central reasons for her loyalty.
