With many customers on TeleLink Version 5, it may come as a surprise that there is not one but 2 newer version TeleLink available. It's a unique situation which deserves some explanation. Equinox's new release process is driven by two competing goals—delivering significant new features and functions while minimizing the financial and operational impact on customers. TeleLink 5 was originally released more than 7 years ago, although we continued to support TeleLink 4 customers under maintenance for quite a while after that release. Starting in 2012, we began development on TeleLink 6 with the goal of releasing it in 2013. Version 6 included a number of new features, with the most significant being a much more robust, browser-based reporting interface. Starting in early 2013, several existing customers invested in this version, upgrading to TeleLink 6 as part of larger project initiatives. Additionally, several new customers licensed and deployed this web-based version.
As the official release date for TeleLink 6 approached, however, the opportunity arose to develop an even better version of TeleLink. The driving force behind this initiative was a customer with a very large volume of daily usage data (5-7 billion calls per month). The volume requirements necessitated a complete rewrite of the application, which allowed us to streamline and enhance virtually every aspect of the solution. Given this situation, we decided not to broadly market the TeleLink 6 upgrade to our installed customers, as it would be unfair to do so knowing that TeleLink 7 would soon be coming.
We are now offering customers currently on TeleLink version 5 or 6 the ability to upgrade directly to TeleLink 7. Equinox will work with each customer on a case-by-case basis to determine the benefits, impact, and cost of doing so. While we will continue to support both TeleLink 5 and 6 for the foreseeable future, all new TeleLink licenses are now installed using version 7.
