It was a perfect night for baseball—the weather, the company, the food, and the venue! If you’ve read my previous blogs, you might remember “The Equinox Reunion of 2021” blog, which recounted the celebratory company picnic in May after the team returned to work in the Nashville office. We had an amazing lunch followed by corn hole, darts, and ping pong tournaments.
Beyond the Nashville headquarters, Equinox has a few out-of-state employees whose remote work environment is not tied to the pandemic. So, when most of those remote workers were able to coordinate a visit to Nashville this summer, Byron and Wayne promptly planned an outing for this momentous occasion.
Byron and Wayne reserved an outdoor club deck at the First Horizon Park for the gathering. This beautiful facility is the home of the Nashville Sounds baseball club (Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers) and also hosts small concerts, soccer matches, and other private events. Byron and Wayne invited the entire Equinox team as well their families and guests. Based on our team’s tenure, we know each other’s spouses and children. But this is the first time we’ve had so many of us together at once. It was fabulous turnout and a wonderful opportunity to get better acquainted with our newest team members’ families. Although it had been 90+ degrees in the days before the game, the weather that evening was stunning—hardly any humidity, a nice breeze, a significant temperature drop, and no rain!
The gathering began with traditional backyard off-the-grill fare. After the food was served, they threw the first pitch of the night. Our club deck included seats and great views of the ball field. But the night was about so much more than just watching the game…we laughed, saw how much our children had grown over the past year, met new grandchildren, welcomed team members’ parents to the Equinox family, and simply enjoyed a relaxing evening out surrounded by our friends and families. After a year of uncertainty and separation, it was so nice to be together. Indeed, it was a great night at the old ball game.
