Last week, I had the privilege of attending GENBAND Perspectives for the first time. It wasn’t just my first time at the event but also the first time Equinox has exhibited. We attended a few other switch manufacturer events last year—Metaswitch Forum and BroadSoft Connections—so I had an idea of what to expect.
The week started off on an incredible note. One of the networking opportunities scheduled for Monday afternoon was to take a tour of Dodger Stadium. As a lifelong baseball fan, it was inspiring to walk the halls and see the trophies and accomplishments of individuals and the teams that were all part of a Dodger organization that began life in 1883. I could remember key moments in Dodger history as I toured the stadium and gazed upon the field. My first major Dodger memory as a kid was watching tv with my dad and seeing Kirk Gibson hit the game winning home run in Game 1 of the 1988 World Series. The Dodgers would go on to win the series 4-1; which also happens to be their last World Series Championship.
While Equinox hasn’t been around for nearly as long as the Dodgers, our history does span over three decades, and in this industry, I’m sure it may seem like over a century when compared to other companies that come and go or get acquired by an outside firm seemingly overnight. I’m proud of the history of our organization and the individuals who have left a lasting mark on how we operate. We may not have trophies that line our halls, but we do have scores of quotes on our website from satisfied customers.
What made GENBAND Perspectives, and all the other events we attend, special is that we get to see those customers, put faces with names that have only been known by phone and through email for potentially years, and talk about how Equinox has helped them mitigate the headache of toll-fraud or provide greater insight through data analytics. We also had the opportunity to meet carriers that aren’t currently customers but are very interested in how Equinox’s solutions can help protect and optimize revenue.
I look forward to the next time we are able to attend an event like GENBAND Perspectives to meet existing customers and meet those who are just beginning their journey to becoming customers. In serving those customers to our high standards, we’ll hear their words of endorsement and line our metaphorical wall of trophies that will continue to span decades.
