(NASHVILLE, TN) May 20, 2020—Industry leading fraud management solutions provider Equinox Information Systems is pleased to be assisting OTELCO with several additional business assurance initiatives. OTELCO, a publicly-traded (NASDAQ: OTEL) telecommunications provider, serves their business and residential customers with a full menu of voice and data communications solutions. Currently processing over 2 billion customer records a day, Equinox has helped telecom companies and service providers stop fraud, mediate usage data, manage expense, and optimize revenue since 1986. The two companies initially embarked on a relationship in 2008 when OTELCO tasked Equinox with deploying the TeleLink mediation and analytics platform.
Based on this relationship and experience, OTELCO turned to Equinox for a fraud management solution (FMS) in 2011. Equinox’s Protector application has a well-earned reputation in telecom, based on saving carriers hundreds of millions in fraud losses annually. To keep apace OTELCO’s continued growth, they expanded their reliance on the Protector FMS to monitor additional network sources in 2015. For this most recent project, OTELCO elected to upgrade to the newest version of the FMS, added automatic blocking, which includes active call tear down, and extended the application’s use to monitor additional Metaswitch and BroadSoft switches.
“OTELCO continues to rely on Protector and TeleLink as essential components in our successful and profitable network operations,” commented Danielle Hopper, Director of Network Engineering for Otelco. “We especially appreciate the continuity of service we have with Equinox...the same implementation, training, and support folks who worked with us initially are still at the company—they know our system well, they know us personally, and they understand our needs.”
Protector is a comprehensive, scalable solution with a proven record of combatting even the newest fraud schemes. The automated FMS provides real-time protection, with instant notification of suspicious activity, escalated alerts for high-risk incidents, and automatic blocking when warranted. Browser-based tools drastically reduce investigation and incident closure time. TeleLink mediates call records for delivery to billing and operational support systems (B/OSS) by compiling, filtering, and converting data from multiple network points to the appropriate formats for the downstream systems. TeleLink also warehouses this usage data to provide sophisticated, in-depth analytic and network activity reports.
“Equinox is honored to assist OTELCO with their business assurance initiatives for over a decade,” explained Equinox EVP David West. “Equinox not only has the utmost confidence in our solutions, but we also take great pride in the people who power them. We don’t just install an application; we truly partner with our customers, taking a consultative approach to understanding their unique technology requirements and business needs to achieve the desired results. Being selected for Otelco’s latest project is a testament to our commitment to this endeavor. ”
