(NASHVILLE, TN) July 18, 2018—Leading telecom solutions provider Equinox Information Systems reports that the nation's largest telecommunications cooperative, Horry Telephone Cooperative (HTC), has expanded their Protector licensing to add the CMP application as part of their ongoing fraud management efforts. Currently processing 1.7 billion records a day for service providers around the world, Equinox has helped telecom companies stop fraud, mediate usage data, manage expense, and optimize revenue since 1986. Equinox established a relationship with the South Carolina-based telecommunications service provider over 14 years ago when HTC selected Equinox for a mediation system to automate the usage record transmission process.
Based on their experience with Equinox’s software and support since that initial project, HTC then deployed Protector in 2012 to monitor their network traffic. Since that time, HTC has relied on the Protector fraud management system (FMS) to identify suspicious, abusive, or otherwise fraudulent activity. In 2014, HTC elected to add automatic blocking to further enhance their ability to mitigate loss and reduce risk associated with fraudulent usage. Based on positive results achieved with Protector, HTC upgraded to the CMP application as part of their fraud management efforts this year. Its web-based research and response tools allow investigation and incident closure to occur even more quickly from any location.
“HTC has worked with Equinox for 14 years now, and we are very pleased with not only their software applications, but also the interactive, responsive support from their entire organization,” commented Jim Forbes, Director, Information Services at HTC. “Protector has provided us the ability to protect our members from potential fraud and the expenses associated with it.”
Protector has well earned its reputation as the most reliable and cost-effective solution by saving carriers hundreds of millions of dollars in annual fraud losses. The automated FMS instantly notifies analysts when suspicious activity occurs, escalates alerts for high-risk incidents, and enacts automatic blocks when warranted. Because it employs dynamic usage profiling and proprietary monitoring metrics, it detects all fraud types—even the newest schemes—across all customer bases and call types.
“After being deployed for decades in the telecom industry, Protector’s abilities are well-proven; however, establishing long-term relationships and earning the kind of trust that turns companies into loyal customers is what drives us to do what we do every day,” explained Equinox Executive Vice President, David West. “We are grateful for the opportunity to continue working with HTC on these business assurance projects.”
