Nashville, TN - July 11, 2001- Nashville-based Equinox Information Systems, a leading provider of telecom software solutions, today announced that NewSouth Communications will incorporate Equinox's advanced telecom fraud management system, Protector Deluxe, into its facilities-based network. The agreement enables NewSouth to bolster its telephone fraud defense with real-time fraud monitoring and advanced case management for its network. The system will help NewSouth ensure security for the network's growing traffic.
"Customers are demanding more value and enhanced solutions from their communications providers" said Tracy Cooper, EVP of Engineering and Network Operations for NewSouth Communications. "We chose to work with Equinox because their fraud management solutions provide us with the traffic monitoring capabilities we need to not only meet but exceed our customers' demands. Protector's combination of comprehensive security and flexible, cost-effective software significantly limits our customers' exposure to fraud."
"Equinox is the industry leader in telecom fraud management and we are pleased to provide a dynamic and progressive company like NewSouth with our solutions to manage large-scale domestic and international traffic," said Scot Rand, who is responsible for North American business development for Equinox. "Equinox's Protector will provide NewSouth cost-efficient fraud protection so that they will be able to offer their customers the most competitive rate plans and provide their investors solid revenue protection."
Protector Deluxe utilizes profiles-based technology, establishing expected usage levels based on customer-specific calling behavior. Additional business rules are used to establish expected usage profiles based on call type, origination, and termination. Every call is interrogated to determine if a customer's current usage varies from their profile. Variances are aggregated and summarized at a case level for investigation and further action. Carriers can also use Protector to automatically disable billing entities that match recognized fraudulent patterns.
