David West heads up all sales and marketing initiatives for Equinox Information Systems. He enjoys talking with folks in every sector of telecom and is passionate about helping companies find solutions for the business assurance challenges they face.

As usual, I started working on this annual recap by reflecting on the previous year. In years past there is often a theme that seems to emerge. This year, not so much. For us at Equinox, 2023 was primarily a year of carrying on—adjusting to departures, celebrating anniversaries, welcoming new people to the team, and continuing to do our best to provide great solutions and excellent support.

  • Last year saw the retirement of both our co-founder Wayne Lowe and support representative Kevin Cantrell. While both are missed, we’ve been able to shift and adjust such that Equinox has continued to thrive in their absence.

  • In 2023, several employees hit milestone anniversaries. Eric Bright (who transitioned from support to development last year) passed 10 years, Robert Hunter hit 15 years, and customer favorites Ernest Howell and Christi Vanoye both marked 25 years. We also celebrated the 30th anniversary of Lesa Grubbs’ start at Equinox.

  • In addition to celebrating the long tenure of many staff members, we continue to grow our team with the folks who will make up the next generation of Equinox. In 2023, we welcomed Jackson Holland and Donovan Dorr to the support team and Ava Anduze to our development staff.

  • 2023 also saw the broad deployment of the new Version 11 releases of both Protector and TeleLink. Between them, we now have over 60 implementations and nearly 70% of our customers have upgraded.   • We also added several new customers to our roster, including Nasstar and Genesys.

2024 looks to be much the same for us, as we work to upgrade the remainder of our customer base, enhance features, improve usability, and add new functionality (be on the lookout for a KYC dashboard in Protector and TeleLink and an all-new credit limit monitoring module in Protector).

As in the past, reflecting on what’s gone before leaves me grateful for the good things that 2023 brought to us at Equinox and for the friendships we share with each other and our customers.
